ASTM B179 - Standard Specification for Aluminium Alloys in Ingot and Molten Forms for Castings from All Casting Processes.

ASTM B179 is the American standard that covers aluminium alloys in ingot form for remelting and molten state, for the manufacture of castings. ASTM B179 standard defines the chemical compositions and the minimum quality requirements in the production process of aluminium alloy ingots for castings from any casting techniques. Furthermore, for each casting technique, a specific standard provides indications concerning the mechanical features detected from separate casting test specimens. In particular:
